Basketball WA is pleased to announce the appointment of former SBL player Jonelle Morley and BWA Board Member, Brian Atkin to the SBL Commission. These appointments follow on from the recent SBL Club elections of Fleur McIntyre and Andy Stewart to the position of Commissioner’s, these four will be joined by BWA CEO Rob Clement to make up the new SBL Commission.

The appointments come following a review of the old SBL structure by the BWA Board, in which it was agreed an empowering connection between the two bodies needed to be reinstated through a new terms of reference for the SBL Commission and a direct line of reporting to the BWA Board.

The BWA Board has also appointed Brian Atkin as the Chair of the Commission, previously held by Andy Stewart who took on the role following the passing of John Gardiner in 2014.

Adam Bowler (SBL General Manager) will be the secretariat for the Commission and work with the new Committee to oversee the successful operation of the league. The new appointments will replace previous Commissioners Travis Moore and Stephen Charlton, Basketball WA would like to thank both Travis and Stephen for their passion and service to the SBL, who both played vital roles in ensuring the growth and sustainability of the League during their tenure.

The newly constructed SBL Commission has already convened during a preliminary meeting 28^th March 2018, discussing and developing a range of League governing strategies moving forward.
