WSBL Player of the Week: Kayla Standish

THE Round Twelve Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Kayla Standish of the Perth Redbacks.

Having already received a Player of the Week in 2018, Standish is living up to her reputation as a dominant force in the WSBL.

With just the one game in Rivalry Round for Perth, the stage was set between the 4th placed Redbacks and the 5th placed Kalamunda Eastern Suns, with both teams boasting WNBL talent. Standish made her mark on the game, going off for 27 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in 28 minutes of play. She went efficiently about her scoring, shooting 75% from the field, 75% from the 3-pt line and 100% from the charity stripe.

Standish also sealed the game for the Redbacks, as she nailed both free-throws with 11 seconds to left in the contest, putting Perth up by 3 with time expiring.

Standish is now the 5th leading scorer in the WSBL, 4th leading rebounder and 6th leading shot clocker. She also claims the highest free-throw percentage, making 52/59 shots this season.  The Redbacks (3rd) now look ahead to a week off, followed by a Round 14 match against the Joondalup Wolves.
