WSBL Player of the Week: Kayla Standish

THE Round Sixteen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Kayla Standish of the Perth Redbacks.

Another strong weekend from Kayla Standish has seen the Perth Redbacks jump to 2nd on the WSBL ladder.

Playing away to the Cockburn Cougars, Standish and the Redbacks quickly asserted their dominance on the game to walk away 82-63 victors. Standish registered 27 points and 5 rebounds to go with 3 blocks in just 25 minutes of play.

12 hours later the Redbacks hosted the Mandurah Magic, where the Redbacks were forced to weather a 36-point eruption from the Magic’s Anita Brown. However, in just 27 minutes, Standish put up 13 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and zero turnovers to guide her squad to another W. Standish has now recorded 9 double-doubles on the season as well as 7 20+ point games.

Standish and the Redbacks sit second overall with a record of 15-4, and are enjoying a 6-game win streak. With just 3 games remaining for their 2018 regular season campaign, they look ahead to hosting the South West Slammers this Saturday, before a tantalising 2nd v 3rd matchup against the Rockingham Flames in Round 18.
