MSBL Player of the Week: Gavin Field

THE Round Nineteen Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Gavin Field of the Prestige Honda Cockburn Cougars.

A 60-point eruption has unsurprisingly seen Gavin Field earn this Round’s POTW Award.

Playing in just under 34 minutes in the Cougars’ Saturday evening match-up against the Mandurah Magic, Field posted a dominant stat line of 60 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 turnovers and 2 steals. Field imposed himself on the game from the outset, going 7/9 from the field and 4/4 from the FT line to score 22 first quarter points. At the half, he had added another 20 to take his tally to 42 points, before cooling down for a ‘casual’ 18 second half points.

The performance was the most offensively sound display this year since Daniel Alexander’s 43 points last month, which ironically enough came against Field’s Cougars.

With this effort, Field has now registered eighteen 20+ point games, seven 30+ point games and 40 or more on three occasions. It also boosts Field’s points per game average by close to 2 points, taking his season averages to 25.8ppg, 8.5rpg and 4.8apg. In the month of July, Field is averaging 38.3 points per game.

Field and the Cougars will finish their season this Friday at Mike Barnett as they take on SBL rivals the Rockingham Flames.
