Friday Night Men’s SBL Recap – Week 7

THE Joondalup Wolves remain unbeaten at their new home at HBF Arena following a 17-point victory against the East Perth Eagles on Friday night.

Round 7 of the Men’s SBL got underway on Friday night with the lone fixture and that saw the Joondalup Wolves defeat the East Perth Eagles 90-73 at HBF Arena.

It leads into a full night of fixtures on Saturday night with seven matches featuring all teams in action in the Men’s SBL.

The three regional centres are all hosting games with the Goldfields Giants playing the Perry Lakes Hawks, the Geraldton Buccaneers taking on the Mandurah Magic and the South West Slammers hosting the Cockburn Cougars.

The Willetton Tigers also take on the Perth Redbacks, Rockingham Flames face the Joondalup Wolves, East Perth Eagles play the Lakeside Lightning and the Kalamunda Eastern Suns battle the Stirling Senators.

MEN’S SBL PREVIEW – WEEK 7 

The lone fixture on Friday night saw the league-leading Wolfpack hosting the Eagles at HBF Arena.

It was a tight first half with the Wolves entering half-time with just the one-point lead at the main break.

Joondalup then pulled away in the third quarter with 24 points to 17. The Wolves added another 24 points to 15 in the fourth quarter too to end up coming away with the 17-point victory.

The win improves the Wolves to a 7-1 record on the season while the Eagles slip 4-5.

Both teams back up on Saturday night with the Wolfpack playing Greg Hire and the Rockingham Flames in Rockingham. The Eagles host the Lakeside Lightning.

The Wolfpack ended up going 15/36 from three-point range for the night with Brian Sullivan hitting 6/10 of those to end up with 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Jalen Billups also contributed 18 points and eight rebounds for the Wolves with Rhys Smyth adding 11 points, Chris Clausen 10 points and two assists, Reece Maxwell eight points and four rebounds, and Sean Easther seven points and three boards.

Jonathan Morse top-scored for the Eagles with 31 points, seven rebounds and three steals on shooting 10/20 from the field, 2/4 from three-point territory and 9/11 from the free-throw line.

Andrej Donlagic finished with 15 points and three rebounds for East Perth with Drew Williamson contributing eight points.
