THE Round Ten Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Ali Schwagmeyer of the Lakeside Lightning.
Another elite performance by Ali Schwagmeyer sees her Lakeside Lightning maintain their top-spot following a 100-64 trouncing of 2017 WSBL Grand Finalists, the Mandurah Magic.
Playing away to the Mandurah Magic Friday night, the Lightning came out with all guns blazing, with their 3 All-Star Starters all registering at least 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Of the 3, Schwagmeyer led with a season high 30 points on 71% shooting, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, achieved in just under 30 minutes of court time.
Schwagmeyer is averaging 23.6ppg, 7.1rpg and 4.4apg, and will no doubt have many thinking she can add to her 2016 and 2017 WSBL League MVP Awards in 2018. A ‘three-peat’ would see her join elite company in WSBL, WNBL and WNBA star Sami Whitcomb.
