THE Round Thirteen Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Jonathan Morse of the Magicorp East Perth Eagles.
Following a pair of victories in which both himself and fellow import Anthony Golden were instrumental, Jonathan Morse has earned himself a Round Thirteen POTW nod. The wins close the Eagles to within 2 games of the Top 8, and the 2018 SBL post-season.
Friday night the East Perth Eagles hosted the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in a battle of the league’s premier Centres between Morse and Kevin Davis. While Davis posted an impressive statistical line, Morse managed to trump him by contributing 25 points and 15 rebounds on 10-18 shooting. Whilst on the court, the Eagles were +11 as they went on to win 106-98.
The following night away at Warwick Stadium, the Eagles pulled off an amazing victory against a deep and talented Stirling Senators outfit. Morse again was solid in his performance, adding 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks while playing all but 43 seconds of the game. The Eagles won 83-81 in a very tight contest which sees the Senators fall from 4thto 8th in a tightly bunch mid-field.
The Eagles will make the trip south as they take on the Slammers this Saturday 16th June, in an effort to break into the 8.
