THE Round Eighteen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Maddie Allen of the Latitude 32 Rockingham Flames.
A scintillating performance by undoubtedly the League’s best ring protector has seen Maddie Allen earn herself another POTW in 2018.
Playing away to the Perth Redbacks in a battle between 2nd and 3rd, the Flames capitalised on the absence of Kayla Standish as they went on to win 83-69. A large part of their strong performance was the effort of Allen, who posted a near triple-double of 12 points, 18 rebounds and 8 blocks, a season high. While Allen established herself on the defensive end, offensively she grabbed 8 rebounds and shot at 50%.
Allen now leads all players in the WSBL in offensive rebounds and blocks per game, and has registered 9 double-doubles in 2018. Allen boasts season statistics of 13.2ppg, 10.6rpg and an astonishing 2.8bpg. On July 8, Allen was rewarded for her dominance with a professional contract with the Perth Lynx in the WNBL, under SBL Coaching legend Andy Stewart and her very own SBL Head Coach, Ryan Petrik.
The Flames have 3 games remaining this season, with a double header against the league leading Lakeside Lightning, followed by the Joondalup Wolves scheduled for this weekend.
