SBL, South West Slammers

MSBL Player of the Week

THE Round Twenty Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Travis Durnin of the South West Slammers.

A stellar performance from South West young gun Travis Durnin has seen him aptly rewarded with the final Men’s POTW award for 2018.

Playing in all 40 minutes of his team’s contest against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, Durnin erupted for 45 points, 18 rebounds and 5 steals, all career highs. Durnin, who is just 20 years old, went 16/23 from the field (69%) and 5/10 (50%) from the 3-PT line. A 16-point 3rd quarter from Durnin consolidated the win for the Slammers, who will be buoyed by the strong Round 20 performance, in what has been an otherwise challenging season.

The second half of the season has many touting Durnin for the 2018 Most Improved Award, averaging a phenomenal 26.6 points per game over his last 8 games. Durnin has registered ten 20+ point games as well as 3 double-doubles in 2018.

The Slammers finished their season 12th on the SBL ladder with 7 wins and 19 losses.
