Mansfield Signs on for 2018

Coaching Announcement WSBL 2018 CM

Lakeside Lightning are pleased to announce the re-signing of Head Coach Craig Mansfield for the 2018 WSBL Season.

In the lead up to our semi-final series, we are very pleased to announce that Craig Mansfield will be returning in 2018 as our SBL Women’s Head Coach. Craig has done an excellent job over the past two years leading our Women’s Program. The development of our group on the court has been excellent; however his impact off the court has been equally significant. We have a great opportunity to continue building, with Craig now confirmed in this role for the 2018 season.

With Craig now officially signed for next year we asked him to share a couple of comments:

“So far I’ve enjoyed my time spent at Lakeside, the Club has been supportive of the women’s program and I feel like we’ve continued to make progress.”

“I feel I have a good relationship with Club officials, my assistants, team manager and all support staff as well as the players. I’m also motivated to keep coaching in the WSBL so it was a comfortable decision for me to stay on for 2018.”

“We have a number of goals for the remainder of this season and into 2018, some of which include on-court results, but we want to continue to build the resources of players and coaches within the club, provide pathways for our juniors and continue to support a number of our players as they chase broader basketball goals and life experiences.”

As a club, we are excited about the future with Craig confirmed as an important part of our Lightning Leadership in 2018. This goes beyond what happens on the court during SBL games – Craig’s ability to build capacity and develop others is valued highly and we look forward to seeing him continue in his role next season.
