The Kalamunda Eastern Suns have signed dominant US big-man, Kevin Davis, to play for their men’s programme during the 2018 SBL season. Davis has been a perennial all-star in the League for the past three years, originally with Joondalup and, most recently, with East Perth. He won a Championship in his first SBL season and brings with him a wealth of experience to the young Suns’ squad.
“Kevin is a proven force in our League over an extended period”, said Suns Head Coach Michael Clarke. “He is a double-double beast, consistently averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds. After two seasons of building a foundation, we are ready to round out our team with a mobile big of Kevin’s calibre”.
Clarke believes Davis is a perfect fit for the style of play that the men’s programme has adopted during his tenure. “With Kevin’s ability to run the floor and play above the rim, I think we’re going to be even more fun to watch next season. He adds so many dimensions to our team, including an inside scoring option and a consistent rebounder at the offensive end”.
Yet the 6’9” American’s biggest impact may be at the other end of the court, with his ability to defend in the paint. “We clearly need someone who can guard the bigs, alter shots and clean up the defensive boards”, said Clarke.
The Suns look forward to another season of big SBL crowds, attracted to their exciting brand of basketball. To join the Suns as a sponsor, or as a season ticket holder, contact the Association via email at sbl@kalamundabasketball.com.au.
