MSBL Player of the Week: Daniel Alexander

THE Round Fourteen Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Daniel Alexander of the Lakeside Lightning.

In one of the most dominate performances of the season to date, Alexander was simply unstoppable in his teams 122-85 point victory over the Cockburn Cougars, Friday night at the Lakeside Recreation Centre.

In just 33 minutes, Alexander registered 43 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals for the Lightning. Sharing the lion’s share of offensive responsibilities with fellow import Jack Isenbarger, Alexander went 15-28 from the field, 6-13 from beyond the arc and a perfect 7-7 from the line.

Alexander has now scored 40 or more points in his last two games, averaging 26.5ppg across the season for a new look Lightning team who have surged to 4th on the MSBL ladder. The Lightning have now won 6 of their past 7 contests, with the additions of Bryan Michaels and Alexander having an expected positive effect.

The Lightning will turn their attention to the Mandurah Magic this Saturday night at home, before playing against cross-town rivals the Willetton Tigers in Heritage Round.
