THE Round Nineteen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Ash Grant of the Lakeside Lightning.
A pair of strong performances have earned Lightning Center Ash Grant this week’s WSBL POTW honours.
The nod comes as the Lightning starters made quick work of the Rockingham Flames in the first quarter of their Friday night tilt, going on to win 87-76. Grant drew the tough assignment of the Flames’ Maddie Allen, however managed to post 21 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks in the matchup.
The following night, the Lightning starters were able to play almost 10 less minutes each against the East Perth Eagles, comfortable winners 96-71. In just over 23 minutes, Grant had registered 23 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks in the win. Her line is the fourth double-double in five games, and eight this season.
The Lightning, who haven’t lost in 13 games and have completed their season as WSBL minor premiers, will be keenly watching who they will draw in the First Round of Finals, while their bench also prepares for a WSBL Division 1 Grand Final this weekend at the Bendat Basketball Centre.
