Following four years as an SBL Commissioner, Fleur McIntyre has informed BWA that she will be stepping down from the role due to professional committments.
A much loved figure in the basketball community and recently being named the SBL Personality of the Year for 2018, Fleur has committed four years to ensuring the SBL continues to innovate and grow.
As a former 250 game player with the Cockburn Cougars, Fleur advocated for current players in decision making processes and has been passionate about ensuring the League continues to connect with the wider community.
Fleur has committed to continue her involvement in junior coaching, WA State Performance programs and State teams in which she was awarded a Gold Medal this year as an Assistant Coach with the U18 WA Men.
“I’m very grateful to BWA but especially the SBL clubs for my appointment and opportunity to be part of the SBL Commission” McIntyre said.
“A special thank you also to Adam Bowler and Andy Stewart who I’ve worked alongside for 4 years, and for the knowledge they have passed on. I consider it a privilege to be part of the Western Australian basketball community and the SBL is especially close to my heart. I look forward to continuing to support the league, and it’s wonderful volunteers, coaches and athletes.”
Basketball WA will now commence the process to identify potential candidates for the, now vacant, Club elected SBL Commission position.
On behalf of everyone involved in the SBL, thank you Fleur!
