Tigers to remain at Willetton amid $10M expansion

The Willetton Tigers have posted the following Media Release, calling Willetton Basketball Stadium home again in 2019

Willetton Tigers SBL home games will return to Willetton Stadium for the 2019 season after a late change of venue was required from the previously arranged venue of Curtin Stadium.

Willetton had previously sought an external venue for SBL in 2019 due to Willetton Stadium being under expansion construction works for the duration of the year.

After confirmation of the venue and subsequent release of the 2019 SBL fixtures a couple of issues were identified at Curtin Stadium which needed to be addressed in order to make the venue fully compliant for SBL games.

Willetton Tigers CEO Mark Winnett made the following comments about the switch back to Willetton. “Whilst it was unfortunate Tigers games couldn’t continue at Curtin Stadium as previously planned for 2019, I would like to thank the staff at Curtin Stadium and BWA for working in conjunction with WBA to endeavor to find a solution to the matter.”

“Given the circumstances Willetton are pleased to be able to return to our home venue and are confident that SBL games at Willetton will be managed effectively during the expansion construction program.

Willetton will work closely with all other SBL clubs to communicate the logistics at the venue throughout the SBL season.”

The Tigers first home game for the season comes up on Saturday 23rd March when the teams host rivals Lakeside Lightning with the WSBL game getting underway at 5pm and the MSBL at 7pm.
