Round 2 Women’s West Coast Classic Preview

After a feeling out Round 1 of the West Coast Classic last weekend, things get turned up a notch in Round 2 as the reality sinks in that in a shortened season and only a top four, wins are more valuable than ever.

The West Coast Classic, which has been established in place of the SBL competition for 2020 thanks to COVID-19, will only be run over the course of nine weeks with each team playing one another once.

That all leads into a final four being decided with those teams battling it out to decide the championship over the course of one weekend, so if you are still winless coming into Round 1, you certainly don’t still want to be that way after Round 2.

That puts extra significance on all the match ups this weekend starting on Friday night with the South West Slammers hosting the Rockingham Flames at Eaton Recreation Centre.

The Perth Redbacks are then at home to the Cockburn Cougars at Belmont Oasis with the Willetton Tigers also hosting the Mandurah Magic at Willetton Basketball Stadium and the Lakeside Lightning taking on the Perry Lakes Hawks at Lakeside Recreation Centre.

All four games tip-off from 6.30pm on Friday night.

Then on Saturday, three of the games begin at 5pm and they see the Mandurah Magic play the East Perth Eagles at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre with the Warwick Senators hosting the South West Slammers at Warwick Stadium and the Cockburn Cougars battling the Joondalup Wolves at Wally Hagan Stadium.

Then at 6pm on Saturday night it’s the Perry Lakes Hawks up against the Perth Redbacks at Bendat Basketball Centre.
