King Named MSBL Player of the Week

THE Round One Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Justin King of the Bethanie Stirling Senators.

Justin King led the Stirling Senators to an impressive double-header win against the Rockingham Flames 87-85, and Goldfields Giants 109-64 in the League’s premiere week.

Friday night saw the Stirling Senators hold off a late surge by the hosting Flames, largely thanks to a clutch performance by King down the stretch. King finished with 33 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals in just 27 minutes of action, and scored 8 of Senators last 12 points to seal the game.

King’s late game heroics weren’t required against the Giants on Saturday with the Senators essentially sealing the game in the first half. All his 24 points came in the first half, rounding off his stat line with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. King gave up just a solitary turnover in 59 combined minutes.

The Senators turn their attention to the Willetton Tigers this Sunday 25th March at Warwick Stadium, who suffered a tough loss to the Joondalup Wolves in Round One.
